Kanye West was photographed at The Fader offices in NYC Thursday morning (Sept. 27), rocking a “self-designed” red “MAGA” hat with a white sweatshirt that appeared to show his support of Colin Kaepernick.
West defended pairing the paradoxical hat with a Kaepernick shirt by explaining the different meaning it has to him when he wears it. “But it’s my hat, I redesigned it. I changed the brim, I mean I changed the shape right here and I put positive energy into the hat,” the 41-year-old told office employees.
The photo has ruffled the feathers of those on social media, causing a bit of an unexpected firestorm online Thursday (Sept. 27). Yeezy is in promo mode with the release of his second solo album in 2018, Yandhi, slated to drop following his performance on Saturday Night Live this weekend (Sept. 29).
“We’re releasing Yandhi Saturday night. We know it will come in number 2 to my brother Lil Wayne and that’s lovely. The universe needs Ye and Wayne music at the same time,” West previously tweeted Thursday (Sept. 27).
