Kanye West‘s upcoming album has both a title and a release date: Waves (though that title is liable to change at any time). It’s due out Thursday, Feb. 11, but the set’s track list — at least if the oft-changing handwritten list he’s shared is any indication.
Accordingly, in a brand-new interview with Billboard, Jeremih talks about writing for West (a fellow Chicagoan), as well as Nicki Minaj (whom he recently collaborated with on The Pinkprint‘s “Favorite”), as recently as last week.
“For the last week we’ve been doing some writing for Nicki [Minaj], for Kanye [West],” the singer (currently on the Hot 100 with both his own single “oui” and Nelly collab “The Fix”) told Billboard Friday, Feb. 5. “I’m not sure really where he’s at with his album right now, or if he’s actually going to use the work that we’ve done — but if he doesn’t use it, I sure will.”
Jeremih also revealed the working title of his next project. “Late Nights: The Album — I’m glad the world has finally soaked it in, and is marinating in it, but you best believe I have a whole other late night coming for you real soon: Later That Night,” he said. “I gave them the mixtape, I dropped the album — now I want to give them a complete trilogy of work.”
Look for more about “oui,” what Jeremih’s plotting for 2016, and Later That Night in his forthcoming full interview with Billboard.
