Kanye West is enjoying his time away with family in Uganda. In addition to recording music for his delayed Yandhi album, West has been making charitable efforts around the country. The 41-year-old and his wife Kim, both paid a visit to the oldest orphanage in Uganda, known as the Masulita Children’s Home in Wakiso on Tuesday (Oct. 16).
Uganda’s president, Yoweri Museveni, actually allowed the West family to fly on his private helicopter to be escorted to the charity event in a timely manner. Upon their arrival, Kanye rapped for the 100-plus kids in attendance along with playing some of his new music. He even danced with the ecstatic group, as they sang some songs of their own.
West then took things to the next level, bringing out bags filled with fresh pairs of brand-new white Yeezy Boost 350 v2s and began handing out a pair of sneakers to every kid present at the orphanage’s event. The Wests’ heartwarming gesture reportedly continued with donations of Beats speakers to improve the music listening experience at the orphanage.
Laced in matching yellow fluorescent athletic wear with Kim Kardashian, the back of Ye’s Balenciaga World Food Programs’ shirt reads a philanthropic motto to go along with his intentions of leading with love: “Saving Lives Changing Lives.” Speaking at the event, the Chicago-bred rapper promised to build a “world-class tourism school” in Uganda to serve East Africa, according to PML Daily. West is even planning a return trip to see his pledges through.
