A Kanye West and Nicki Minaj collaboration slated for Ye’s delayedYandhi album has been in the works for some time now. During the Sunday night’s (April 7) episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, fans were privy to how the track — tentatively titled “New Body” — came together during West’s time in New York in September, when he was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
While enjoying a family studio session, West ponders the idea of having Minaj hop on “New Body.” After receiving the producer’s co-sign, Yeezy has Kim FaceTime Nicki to see if she’d be interested. “This is gonna be fire,” Kanye declares. Minaj seems all-in on joining Kanye on the track. “I’m gonna say some real ass shit that bitches need to hear too,” the Queens native replies.
Kardashian actually confirmed the collab during the episode’s airing and provided some insight. “Nicki really is the goat! @NICKIMINAJ We FaceTimed her and within an hour she had written the song and it’s soooo [fire],” she tweeted while hyping up the record.
The track’s engineer, Kevin Celik, divulged that “New Body” also features an assist from frequent collaborator Ty Dolla $ign. “It’s Kanye, Nicki and Ty Dolla $ign. It’s Kim K-inspired for sure,” Celik told The Lunch Table in an interview last month (March 7).
