Kanye West is preaching a message of love to everyone in 2018. He has even gone to great lengths to give the ultimate forgiveness to Jan Adams, his late mother Donda West’s cosmetic surgeon, who allegedly played a role in her tragic death due to post-operative complications and coronary artery disease back in 2007.
In a tweet over the weekend, Kanye announced plans to use a photo of Adams as his upcoming album cover, but Adams penned an open letter to the rapper, posted by The Blast on Sunday, asking West not to use his photo in combination with any promotional items surrounding his music.
“I ask that you cease and desist using my photo or any image of me to promote your album or any of your work. I just think if in fact this conversion to love is genuine on your part… then it’s inappropriate to drag the negativity of the past with it,” Adams wrote.
He later spelled out the events he claims ultimately led to Donda West’s death and even placed some blame on ‘Ye’s cousin, who was with his mother post-surgery. “Perhaps you should put your cousin’s picture on your next album. Don’t put my picture out there and claim you are about love. Love deals with the truth,” Adams wrote.
Yeezy shared the letter to his Twitter account on Monday evening (April 30). “Open letter from Jan Adams. This is amazing. Thank you so much for this connection brother. I can’t wait to sit with you and start healing,” he tweeted. On Saturday, Kanye teased the idea in a text message that he was planning to use Jan Adams’ face as his upcoming album cover.
Dr. Adams was hit with two malpractice suits after the 2007 incident that reportedly cost him $500,000.
