Kanye West‘s Sunday Service invaded the Metro Atlanta area over the weekend (Sept. 15). West held the sermon at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, which was filled to capacity with about 600 guests from the public who waited outside for hours to have the chance to see West’s spiritual gathering.
With the REVOLT Summit happening down the street, artists such as Lil Yachty, T.I., Jermaine Dupri, 2 Chainz, Chris Tucker, and Nelly were all in attendance for Sunday Service. The roaring choir’s set included “How Excellent,” “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” and even flipped Ginuwine’s “So Anxious” into a soulful performance.
Yeezy even graced the mic and delivered an extended sermon himself regarding his relationship with God. “The power of God can’t be calculated by a number, by a first week sale, by a bank account, by how many cars you drive, by how big your house is and how many acres you got,” he stated.
For the first time, West would later publicly acknowledged his Jesus Is King album, which he confirmed is slated to drop on Sept. 27, something he didn’t do when 2018’s Yandhi release was approaching.
Before heading back home on his private jet, Kanye crossed paths with an old friend at the airport: DJ Khaled. Following a brief conversation, West capped off the exchange by gifting Khaled the unreleased pair of Yeezys he was wearing right off his feet.
