Kanye West was full of surprises on Saturday Night Live on Sept. 29 — and his water bottle costume for his performance of “I Love It” was just the tip of the iceberg.
Chris Rock was one of the VIP members of the audience for the Adam Driver-hosted episode that featured West as the musical guest. Instead of the typical finale for the show — which usually sees the performers hugging it out onstage before the credits roll — West took a third turn on the mic and brought Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla $ign and more out for reinforcement after the usual goodbye to perform “Ghost Town” off West’s latest album, Ye.

Rock documented the impromptu performance on his Instagram story, but he also caught West’s remarks — on politics, Trump, his potential presidential run in 2020 and more — which he made while wearing a MAGA hat.
“I want to cry right now,” the rapper crooned into the mic. “Black man in America / Supposed to keep what you feel inside right now.” He proceeded to comment on welfare and the president, who he’s vocally supported since before the 2016 election.
“There’s so many times I talk to like a white person about this, and they’re like, ‘How could you like Trump? He’s racist,'” he continued. “Well, uh, if I was concerned about racism, I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”
