If Kanye West‘s recent return to Twitter is any indication, new music from Ye’ is imminent. After meeting up with Rick Rubin in Calabasas earlier this month, it seems like West is in the process of fine-tuning his upcoming project — and according to TMZ, Ye’s latest recruit was Charlamagne Tha God, who previewed the album during a recent trip to California.
TMZ spotted the two leaving West’s Calabasas office on Wednesday night (April 18) and asked the Life of Pablo rapper if Charlamagne was lucky enough to hear the new album. “He heard some shit,” Ye said before flashing a sly smile. He hopped in his Tesla to avoid any further questioning, so there’s no word on when the album will arrive, but sources told the outlet that Charlamagne heard “a good portion” of the album and fans can expect an interview from the pair in the future.
Charlamagne heightened anticipation when he posted an image to his Instagram of him and Ye gazing at the sunset with just a period as the caption. Charlamagne then added fuel to the fire by posting the same video TMZ captured of him and Ye in Calabasas. Could Charlamagne’s recent posts mean Ye’s album is complete?
The news follows Kanye’s Twitter rant, in which the rapper offered free life advice for creatives. “You have the best ideas. Other people’s opinions are usually more distractive than informative. Follow your own vision. base your actions on love,” he wrote at one point. “Do things you love and if you don’t absolutely love something stop doing it as soon as you can.”
Billboard reached out to reps for Kanye West and Charlamagne for comment.
