Kid Cudi got some free promo from Kanye West when the Chicago rapper shared an iTunes link to Cudi’s new album Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, which dropped Friday (Dec. 16), calling the project “super inspiring.”
It’s been a rocky year for the two longtime collaborators. In September, Cudi name-checked ‘Ye and Drake in a Twitter tirade about the music industry. “These n—as dont give a f— about me. And they aint f—in with me,” he typed. West also fired back during a Saint Pablo tour stop, saying, “Kid Cudi, don’t ever mention ‘Ye name. I birthed you.”
Several days later, West backpedaled on his comments at his Houston show and called Cudi “the most influential artist of the past 10 years.”

Cudi, who revealed that he had checked into rehab after battling depression and suicidal thoughts earlier this year, then thanked West and all of his supporters in an emotional Facebook post. “Words can’t really express how much it made my heart glow,” he shared. “I look forward to better days. Feelin’ great and brand new. Can’t wait to run into each and everyone of you and deliver a big hug.”
It’s also been a busy week for West, who met with President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday and sported a new blonde hairdo.
The pair recently collaborated on West’s The Life of Pablo album for the tracks “Waves” and “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1.”
