Kanye West continued tweeting freely Saturday night (April 28), this time voicing his appreciation for Emma Gonzalez, a student activist and survivor of the February mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
“my hero Emma Gonzalez,” Kanye wrote, posting a photo of Gonzalez on Twitter. The rapper then shared a selfie with his head shaved, which he said was “inspired by Emma.”
Gonzalez did not respond directly to him, but she imitated the style of his tweet, from the lowercase “m” in “my” to the extra spacing, in her own tweet. “my hero James Shaw Jr.,” she wrote.
James Shaw Jr. is the man who stopped the gunman at a recent Tennessee Waffle House shooting that left four people dead.
Kanye’s support for Gonzalez, an outspoken advocate for gun control in the United States who has openly called out Donald Trump, comes after a week of voicing his love for the president. Trump has thanked him for his tweets, one of which featured a “Make America Great Again” baseball cap.
