Just when you thought Kanye and Drake‘s beef had simmered down, on Thursday (Dec. 13), West raised the temperature with a series of scathing tweets aimed at his former collaborator.
The string of tweets began after West received a text message relaying Drake’s interest in clearing a sample for the 2009 Ye-produced track “Say What’s Real” from Drake’s So Far Gone mixtape. “Drake sent in clearance request for ‘Say What’s Real’. Do you wanna clear,” reads the message. Vexed by the text, West unleashed a lengthy diatribe on Twitter. “This proves shit faker than wrestling,” wrote an agitated West.
West continued his verbal assault on Drake and demanded an apology for the numerous jabs thrown at him over the last few months, most notably on French Montana’s “No Stylist.” “Still need that apology for mentioning the 350s and trying to take food out your idols kids mouths,” said Ye. After colliding with Pusha T earlier this year and accusing West of leaking information about his son to his G.O.O.D. Music cohort, Drake used Montana’s “No Stylist” to seek his vengeance. “Yeah, keepin’ it G, I told her “don’t wear no 350s ’round me,” said Drake, mocking West and his sneaker line.
Ye continued targeting Drake and later blamed him for “buying first two rows” at Pusha T’s Toronto show last month, where the G.O.O.D. Music president watched an overzealous fan attempt to attack him onstage. “Stop this already bro. You getting people hurt out here and over what,” West wrote. He also was adamant about receiving a personal apology from Drake as opposed to having to get it through manager Scooter Braun or Travis Scott. “Sending purple emojis When I’m dealing with mental shit I need my apologies now Not through scooter either Not through Travis,” he continued.
Minutes after lambasting Drake, West revealed that he received his long-awaited call from the “Mob Ties” MC and that his mission was “accomplished.” After the alleged phone call, West tweeted he decided not to clear the “Say What’s Real” record after all. By the way… not cleared,” West ended his winded tirade.
