Kanye’s lofty ambitions have always been fueled by his desire to be mentioned alongside his childhood heroes. While West has managed to quash expectations with his sturdy work ethic, his eccentricity is what always allows him to stand out in a room full of vultures. On Tuesday morning (July 10), West paid homage to one of his heroes, and arguably the zaniest player in NBA history, Dennis Rodman.
“Thank to one of my biggest inspirations … always breaking barriers with independent thought,” Ye wrote after receiving an autographed Chicago Bulls jersey from the NBA legend. One interesting parallel between West and Rodman, aside from their affinity for the windy city, stems from their love for Donald Trump. Last month, the NBA Hall of Famer was present during Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s summit in Singapore. Several months ago, West sparked outrage on social media when he took a selfie sporting a “Make America Great Again” cap.
Despite his antics, West has managed to thrive on the musical front. Last month, he completed his five-week album rollout for his G.O.O.D. Music Label, including the release of his eighth studio album, Ye. His latest effort landed No. 1 on the Billboard 200 during its opening week.
