WGN America’s forthcoming escape thriller Underground is ready to make your 2016 TV queue. The John Legend-produced Civil War drama has unleashed two new trailers for the 10-episode series, which follows a group of runaway slaves trying to flee a plantation.
The cast already carries some familiar faces including Jurnee Smollett-Bell (True Blood), Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: SVU) and Alano Miller (Jane the Virgin).
The new teasers depict two different perspectives. “The Plan” shows the slaves organizing an exit strategy while “Wanted” finds a slave owner (played by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Reed Diamond) identifying the seven men and women on the run.
Developed by creators and executive producers Misha Green and Joe Pokaski, Underground will premiere on WGN America on March 9, 2016.
