
Joey Badass, who’s never shied away from tackling political topics on stage and in the studio, tried his hand at punditry during last night’s episode of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.

Joining John Avlon, editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast, and comedian Jessica Kirson, the rapper (whose given name is Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott) shared his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election, which will be his first as a voter. For Scott, the decision isn’t easy, because as he put it, “none of the candidates I really relate to. Being a young black man, I can’t really relate to Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump.”
After taking a few shots at both candidates — regarding Trump’s sobriety, Scott said, “He’s lying,” and of Clinton’s admittedly stilted selfie with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, he added, “She looks like a fan though, it’s funny” — Scott got down to the core of what he’s looking for in the next president.

“[With] voters like myself, there’s a lot of things going on in America that are affecting us,” he told the audience to substantial applause. “I’m looking for that presidential candidate that’s going to put all my problems right at the forefront — [for example] the police brutality issue. I’m in favor of anyone who’s standing strong and firm about that issue.”
