Twenty-one-year-old Jazz Cartier, yet another rapper blowing up out of Toronto, is back with a new video for his recent single “No Religion,” premiering exclusively on Billboard.
Also known as Jacuzzi La Fleur, the MC has quickly attained an online following based on tracks like “Rose Quartz/Like Crazy” and “Switch,” which take the listener from the smooth and jazzy to the gritty and streetwise in the course of just a verse or two.
Now, ahead of his upcoming mixtape Maurading In Paradise (scheduled for release in April), Cartier’s delivering visuals for his latest release. Directed by Fantavious Fritz, the video for “New Religion” takes the viewer through downtown Toronto (running through the six, as another Toronto rapper recently put it), as well as its more upscale Rosedale neighborhood. Like Jazz Cartier himself, it’s a study in contrasts.

“‘New Religion’ is me at my lowest wanting more,” Cartier tells Billboard. “I had to motivate myself and this song is a reminder that it’s always easy to take the easy way out, but no matter where you are in life, pushing through the struggle will always be more rewarding.”
