If you’ve ever seen a Star Wars movie once, or 15 times, then it shouldn’t surprise you that the series’ creator, George Lucas, tops Forbes magazine’s annual list of America’s richest celebrities with a net worth of $5.4 billion. The huge haul is mostly thanks to the payday he got after selling his Lucasfilm production company to Disney in 2012 for $4.1 billion.
Good friend director Steven Spielberg is just behind with $3.7 million, followed by Oprah Winfrey ($2.8 billion) and former NBA great Michael Jordan ($1.7 billion). The third-annual ranking also reveals that Kylie Jenner, 21, is quickly rising up the list, debuting at No. 5 with an estimated worth of $900 million, most of it thanks to the $630 million in sales from her Kylie Cosmetics makeup line over the past two years; Jenner has 100 percent ownership of the company.
Tied at No. 5 with Jenner is rapper JAY-Z, the biggest gainer on the list, whose net worth jumped $90 million from 2017 due to lucrative stakes in Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac and his share in Roc Nation and streaming service Tidal. Magician David Copperfield drops in at No. 7 ($875 million), followed by rapper/entrepreneur Diddy at No. 8, whose net worth is estimated at $825 million.
Rounding out the list were golfer Tiger Woods and author James Patterson, who tied with an estimated $800 million in net worth.
