It was late 2010 when Jamie Foxx last released any new songs, topping the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with his melancholy Drake-featuring “Fall For Your Type.” Now the Oscar-winner returns to music with a pumped up banger, “Party Ain’t a Party” with some guest help from 2 Chainz, likely teasing new material to come.
Oscars 2014: Pharrell Williams Gets ‘Happy’ With Jamie Foxx, Meryl Streep
The DJ Mustard-produced track opens with a slow building beat, accented by echoing hollers of “Wait a minute,” before 2 Chainz gets things going, setting a theme how a party ain’t a party ’til he turns up. The track pulls from Queen Pen’s “1997” single by the same name on the hook, but is very much Foxx’s own as he and Chainz take turns illustrating sexy late night party scenes.

During his promo run for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earlier this year, as MTV points out, Foxx mentioned other music in the works, including a track with Pharrell called “Tease.”
