It’s been a rough 2018 so far for the Paul family, and it’s not getting any better. After older brother Logan Paul got viciously criticized for posting an insensitive video of what appeared to show a suicide in a Japanese forest (leading to the popular YouTuber’s current social media hiatus), younger bro Jake Paul has now landed in hot water thanks to a resurfaced video in which the vlog star can be heard rapping the n-word.
In a video posted by TMZ on Friday (Jan. 5), Paul is seen hanging with friends late night during last year’s Coachella festival busting a freestyle over Rae Sremmurd’s “Throw Some Mo.” The 20 year-old former Bizaardvark star includes the lines “little ass n—as” and “I whip it like my n—a Richie Vetter” in his freestyle at what is described as a rented Palm Springs crash pad.
While an unnamed source told the gossip site that Paul “isn’t racist,” the use of the racial epithet by the popular white social media star has raised eyebrows.

The uproar comes on the heels of another scandal just days earlier when Paul uploaded a Jan. 3 video entitled “I lost my virginity,” which didn’t have any NSFW material, but was age-gated to discourage under-18 viewers from clicking through. The original thumbnail for the clip reportedly showed Paul lying under the semi-naked body of his girlfriend, Erika Costell.
The thumbnail was later replaced with a less salacious one; Paul had not commented on either controversy at press time.
