Alabama rapper Jabo looks to heat up the streets heading into summertime with major plans in store for the rest of 2018. His latest single, “Learned How to Act,” calls on rising ATLien YFN Lucci for the assist and sees KWD$ behind the boards laying the tune’s foundation. The gritty track releases via Billboard premiere on Monday (May 14).
The 31-year-old sets the tone with his opening verse, letting listeners know he doesn’t rap for the cameras and or the attention it may bring. “Get the drop on an opp then I hit em with the beam/ Rest in peace to Rashi man I miss him he was clean/ And I do it for the team/ I do it for the squad and on any given Sunday get your head Milly Rocked/ Motherfuck the cops/We gonna fuck a thot/We don’t do no cameras word to Kevin Hart,” he brashly rhymes.
Lucci takes the baton bringing the record to the finish line. “I got eight bricks now for the Shawty Lo low/I got like five bitches and I’m coming solo/That’s about my respect/Riding for the set I’m going to get a check/A long way from where we was at/See I was trapping wearing Mitchell & Ness,” YFN raps.
The Atlanta transplant knew the “Everyday We Lit” artist was the perfect cameo for the record when describing the track’s inspiration and creative process.
“‘Learned How to Act’ is basically an ode to the come up and the behavioral practices and assumptions that come with being a young black male that is successful in today’s day and age,” the “Water Whippin” rapper explains to Billboard. “To me, this song has a laid-back vibe that is celebratory to the idea of success in every aspect of life.”
