
J. Cole’s third studio effort 2014 Forest Hills Drive brought blessings on blessings to the Dreamville founder’s resume.
After bagging his third No. 1 album and touring across the country (whether charging a dollar for his Dollar and a Dream tour or packing MSG-sized venues), the leader of the Cole World is offering a peak into his life and career with the J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming special on HBO.

“With the album, I looked at it like a story, almost like Lion King,” says Cole. “I made the album like I was writing the soundtrack to a movie that only really existed in my mind.”

In the half-hour clip, the Fayetteville MC visits radio stations and a fan’s home to deliver an exclusive first listen of 2014 Forest Hills Drive before dropping knowledge at Morehouse College. He also makes stops at New York, London (he spits a freestyle to a Brit on the sidewalk) and North Carolina (he hosts a listening session at his old home) with his right-hand man, Dreamville President, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad.
