For his second HBO documentary 4 Your Eyez Only, J. Cole stepped out of the spotlight and behind the camera to feature black voices of the South speaking on their stories of strength and perseverance.
The Dreamville crew trekked to Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Ferguson, Cole’s father’s hometown of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and his native Fayetteville to showcase the struggles of everyday men and women in present-day America. The rapper also included several musical vignettes for songs from his Billboard 200-topping album of the same name including “Neighbors” and “Change.”
4 Your Eyez Only marks Cole’s second documentary with HBO following 2015’s Forest Hills Drive homecoming special.
After making its debut on April 15, the 49-minute feature is now available to stream on YouTube. Watch the presentation, co-directed by Scott Lazer and Cole, below.
