As the hip-hop world monitors the ongoing feud between Drake and Pusha T, listeners have been piecing together the various nuggets dropped by the G.O.O.D. Music president during his scathing diss record, “The Story of Adidon.” Now, the journalist Tourè has claimed that Pusha’s song title and the meaning of “Adidon” is related to a possible collaboration between Drizzy and Adidas.
“Adidon is the name of Drake’s upcoming Adidas line and now that name will be associated with this beef and Pusha’s monstrous diss track,” says Tourè. “Pusha has, in effect, screwed up Drake’s brand before it came out.”
For months, rumors have swirled about Drake’s possible departure from Jordan brand and becoming Adidas’ newest acquisition. In April, the rapper was spotted on Instagram wearing the brand’s sweatpants, raising eyebrows about his deal with Jordan. Generally, brands don’t allow endorsers to sport gear made from their competitors.
On Pusha’s newest diss track, he raps: “Adonis is your son/And he deserves more than an Adidas press run,” referencing Drake’s alleged illegitimate son with pornstar Sophie Brussaux and his rumored deal with the shoe brand. It also should be noted that Pusha T and Kanye West are both members of the Adidas family.
“Who rolls out their child with a sweatsuit? Get outta here,” Pusha told The Breakfast Club, a day after his Drake diss went viral. “We couldn’t know about your child until you started selling sweatsuits and sneakers?…I don’t even hang with my friends who got child-support issues.
Billboard has reached out to Adidas for comment.
