With Lil Peep‘s posthumous “I’ve Been Waiting” collaboration with ILoveMakonnen and Fall Out Boy holding steady on the Hot 100 (it currently sits at No. 78), Makonnen brings his late friend’s vision to life with a imaginative visual, released Wednesday (April 10).
“Dedicated to all those people that want to feel magic around them. And also to Peep, who inspired this magic,” an opening message reads. The vibrant visual then brings Makonnen and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump into Peep’s world of limitless creativity, where the trio travel through the forest and feel the “Awful Things” artist’s spirit at just about every turn.
Peep’s mother, Liza Womack, teased the colorful clip earlier in the week and expressed how happy she was that her son’s idea came to fruition. “This video is a magical one. Gus and Makonnen came up with the idea for it two years ago. I’m so glad the idea has been realized. You will see the subtle presence of Gus in it, if you look closely. Well done, guys,” she wrote.
SUS BOY is credited with helping flesh out the concept and creative direction for the video. “Peep wanted this video to bring people up into the clouds, into the fantastical world of his mind,” SUS BOY explains in the video’s description. “Making it now, alongside Makonnen, is our way of visiting him again.”
