Kevin Hart recently took to social media to challenge his celebrity friends to put their money where their mouth is and donate $25,000 to the Hurricane Harvey. Many celebrities accepted the challenge, including Chris Brown, who quadrupled his contribution and pledged to donate $100,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
In a video of his own, Brown accepted Hart’s challenge but expressed skepticism about his contribution going to Red Cross and instead, vowed to donate his money directly “to the people.”
“I accept your challenge. We need to come together,” Brown said. “This is for everybody out there in Texas, for the relief and everything. I accept the challenge and I implore and encourage everybody else, who can change and make a change for this, to please donate and help out. Love you all.”
Hart upped his initial $25,000 donation to $50,000 and called out another set of celebrities to help raise money for the Harvey aid. Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled (and Ashad), and T.I answered Hart’s call to action and have pledged a $25,000 donation. T.I echoed the same sentiments as Brown and encouraged the public to find an alternative organization to donate to besides Red Cross.
Early Monday morning (Aug. 27), Drake penned a heartfelt message on Instagram to the Hurricane Harvey victims and vowed to donate and “assist the people of Texas in anyway we can and in the most immediate way possible.” Check out all the donation posts below.
