H.E.R. took the stage as the musical guest on Tuesday night’s (April 2) episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Following a pair of Grammy wins, the emerging R&B talent elected to go with I Used to Know Her: Part 2 standout ballad “Hard Place” for the lucky audience. The 21-year-old showed off her ranging ability by singing about the tough proposition of being stuck in an unhealthy relationship, all of while complementing her smooth vocals with a mix of natural sounding guitar riffs. H.E.R. also brought her live band and backup singers along, which seamlessly took the performance to the next level.
Meanwhile, following the loss of Nipsey Hussle, the Bay Area native emotionally paid tribute to Nip on Tuesday (April 2). “Celebrating you and your legacy every day. Thank you for your music and your drive to educate a generation and change the systems,” she wrote on Instagram. “When you’re too much of an advocate for change, they try to stop it. But we won’t. You inspire me. Praying for Lauren and family.”
