Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway smash Hamilton has landed some big-name guests for its mixtape.
A source confirms to Billboard that the forthcoming delivery from the newly minted Grammy winner (Hamilton won the trophy for best musical theater album) will include features from Busta Rhymes, Ben Folds, Regina Spektor, Queen Latifah, Common, Usher, Sia and Chance the Rapper, among others.
Last October, Hamilton announced the mixtape on his timeline. “So the show is done. Cast album is out. Now we begin planning The Hamilton Mixtape. Remixes & Covers & Inspired bys. FOR REAL. GET READY.”
He later said during a talk at the New Yorker Festival that the project would feature a rap battle on slavery. “It was enormously cathartic to write because you write about these men who wrote great things but also had this other legacy lived within the system that was horrible and abusive,” he said at the time. “It just brought the show to a screeching halt.”
