G-Eazy is gearing up to release his double album and short film, The Beautiful & Damned, next Friday (Dec. 15). But this morning (Dec. 8), G revealed “Sober” featuring Charlie Puth. Puth is one of 13 features throughout The Beautiful & Damned‘s 20 tracks.
If G-Eazy’s thrashing rapping in “Sober” is the devil on one shoulder, Puth’s voice is the angel on the other. The contrast in styles plays well off of each other throughout the song, beginning with Puth singing “Oh, I know that I’ll regret this when I’m sober” over only a piano.
Once the beat hits, the Bay Area rapper jumps in with verses detailing the inner-monologue of a mind under the influence: “But, the drunk nights are more fun than sober ones / With every shot, they’re like, ‘Aw, here Kobe comes!'”
Previously ahead of the double album’s release, G-Eazy has released his “Him & I” duet with pop star (who just so happens to be his girlfriend) Halsey, “No Limit” featuring A$AP Rocky and Cardi B, title track “The Beautiful & Damned” featuring Zoe Nash and “The Plan,” which has no assists.
