Future muses about hip-hop’s influence on fashion, his own expensive taste and his musical legacy while on a sneaker shopping spree at Barneys New York in a new Complex video.
In the clip, posted yesterday (Jan. 28), the rapper talks with Complex host Joe La Puma about everything from the fashion references in his lyrics to his past collaboration with Drake.
Future’s latest No. 1 album, Future Hndrxx Presents: THE WIZRD, features multiple sneaker references, including shout-outs to Yeezy Boosts and Reebok on the song “Never Stop.” (In 2017, the Grammy-nominated star collaborated with Reebok to create the popular Reebok Furikaze Future.)
In particular, La Puma asks the rapper about his song “Jumpman,” which features a reference to NBA legend Michael Jordan’s eponymous sneaker line. The song first appeared on Future’s 2015 collaborative mixtape with Drake, What a Time to Be Alive. “‘[Jumpman]’ was good for me because it was a hit,” the rapper says. “But besides that…I’m all Reebok.”
