French Montana hits pause on life to reflect on his surroundings in the sandy visual for “Wave Gods Intro” off his Wave Gods mixtape.
On the Harry Fraud & THe MeKanics-produced opener, which carries a message from the original “Wave God” and incarcerated rhymer Max B, the Coke Boy MC bares his chest on the passing of his close friend, rapper Chinx Drugz, and shouts out his hip-hop inner circle (Diddy and Ross) while spilling other thoughts (baby mama drama and street rap not “sellin’ like Kendrick”). His “Moses” collaborator Chris Brown also lends his vocals to the track.

The video — directed by Spiff TV and shot by Michael Patti — shows a heavily wrapped French cruising through dunes in Dubai and admiring the scenery. “As soon as we started shooting we heard the call to prayer and it felt good because everything I’m talking about in the song is personal and emotional to me,” he tells FADER, who premiered the clip on Wednesday (April 13). “It meant a lot to be able have that moment.”
