2019 looks to be album time for French Montana. After appearing on “Medicine” next to Jennifer Lopez, the Bronx-bred artist returned Tuesday (April 16) with his latest single “Slide,” which features a pair of neophyte rappers representing opposite coasts in Blueface and Lil Tjay.
Montana takes the baton from Tjay’s Auto-Tuned crooning to let everyone know it’s time to put some respect on his name. “Bow down to the Coke Boys/ Fuck me? Fuck you, lil ho/ Had respect for your ass/ Now it’s time for Montana to check your ass, fool,” he raps. The uptempo beat then switches to pay homage to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s 1992 classic “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang.”
Blueface bursts through the front door with another raunchy assist. “VVS is busting/ Like Jerome Bettis (Like Jerome Bettis)/ I get to the fetty (Fetty)/ I got a fucking fetish/ … Reach for my piece like opening eyes in Bird Box,” the 22-year-old rhymes to close out the record.
Tune into CBS Tuesday night (April 16) at 10 p.m. ET to see French make a cameo on NCIS: New Orleans, where he’ll also debut the new tune with a live performance. For now, listen to “Slide” below.
