Frank Ocean has revealed on his radio show, Blonded on Apple Music’s Beats 1, that The Beatles played a significant role in his recent music-making, explaining Monday (May 15) that listening to the iconic group got him though writing sessions during his last two albums: Endless and Blonde.
The singer cited their music as providing the breakthrough for him getting out of his song-writing funk. “I want to thank The Beatles for almost single-handedly getting me out of writer’s block,” Ocean said.
It’s not the first time that Ocean has paid homage to The Beatles, having interpolated their Revolver classic “Here, There and Everywhere” on his own Blonde track, “White Ferrari.” Following the special tribute, the radio episode additionally debuted Ocean’s new version of the song “Biking,” focused more on his own vocals.
