Fantasia has joined the management roster at Primary Wave Entertainment. The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and American Idol season three winner is currently recording her fifth studio album, slated for release in 2016. She is concurrently prepping for guest appearances and performances throughout the upcoming final season of American Idol, which helped launch her career in 2004.
Beforehand, Fantasia will join Sting, Christina Aguilera and other performers paying tribute to Frank Sinatra during the Sinatra: Voice for a Century concert gala at the Lincoln Center on Dec. 3. That performance follows on the heels of the singer’s Nov. 29 appearance on the 2015 Soul Train Awards saluting Legend Award honoree Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.
In a statement announcing her Primary Wave alliance, Fantasia said, “This journey has not always been easy but my fight to continue singing has molded me into the woman that I am. Change had to come, and this one in particular feels oh so good.”
The RCA artist’s last album, 2013’s Side Effects of You, introduced her self-described “rock soul” movement. The project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. She also starred as Celie in Broadway’s The Color Purple.
Fantasia will be managed by Primary Wave executives Tom Maffei and Steven Greener. The company’s management roster includes Cee Lo Green, Melissa Etheridge, Eric Benét and Natalie Imbruglia in addition to such TV/film clients as Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane), Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory) and writer/producer Robert Moresco (Crash).
