After releasing Soul Tape 3 in 2013 and The Young OG Project in 2014, it almost became a holiday tradition that Fabolous would release a new project. With Christmas looming, Power 106 KMEL’s Big Von sat down with the Brooklyn rapper after his performance at the Hip Hop Holiday Concert of Soul 2016 in Oakland, Calif. to discuss his plans for the new year.
“I don’t got a tape coming this Christmas. I got some things that I’m cooking, but what I’m really having right now is a sample fight. It’s getting harder to clear samples,” says Fab.
Back in February, Fabolous and Jadakiss announced their collaborative project Freddy Vs. Jason. The lyrical pair provided a preview in April when they joined forces on Future’s “Wicked.” According to Fab, he plans to release a precursor to the joint album next month.
“Freddy Vs. Jason is on the way. We were trying to put it out next month in January, but we gonna drop something to go into it. I don’t want to give the whole thing, but we’re gonna drop something next month,” he says.
The Brooklyn MC then dropped another nugget when he zeroed in on Jan. 13, which falls on a Friday next year, fueling speculation that the date could mean a possible release. “Low-key, Friday the 13th is next month. That’s all I’m gonna say. January 13 is a Friday,” he adds.
