Dreamville’s first lady Ari Lennox reports for R&B duty with her new EP PHO (Oct. 21). Comprised of seven tracks, the project takes cues from the 25-year-old’s influences, like legends Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston.
“Sometimes women are put in this box where we’re only supposed to talk about certain things,” she said in a release. “I want to be braver and riskier. I think people want to hear that kind of honesty and frankness.”
The Washington, D.C.-based singer previously released the playful video for “Backseat” featuring labelmate Cozz, which finds her playing in a local arcade. Before PHO, she also rolled out her debut EP Ariography in 2013 and signed with J. Cole‘s roster two years later.
