Drake hasn’t stopped celebrating since the Raptors won their first NBA title last week. After meeting the team in Las Vegas for a night of partying this weekend, Drizzy returned to Toronto on his Air Drake private jet to join the Raptors for the championship parade on Monday (June 17).
The 6 God proudly rode through Toronto on double-decker buses with the players and coaches along with the Larry O’Brien Trophy. An estimated 2 million people showed up to witness history, as Mayor John Tory declared June 17 the official “We the North Day.” The OVO rapper’s plane was even spotted making a special flyover to cap off the occasion.
Basking in all the glory like he suited up for the squad, Drake even caught a beer can tossed by a fan onto the bus and went on to promptly chug it with the crowd cheering him on.
Drake is expected to perform in some capacity to close out the parade, according to Sid Seixeiro of Sportsnet. After taking the stage, Drizzy announced that OVO Fest would be returning in 2019.
Additionally, Toronto Police confirmed a shooting that took place at the parade, leaving two victims with non-life-threatening injuries. The assailants are now in custody.
