On Monday (Aug. 7), hundreds of devotees gathered at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Ontario for Drake‘s OVO Fest 2017. The “6 God” certainly didn’t disappoint, either, delivering a guest-filled set featuring performances by The Weeknd, Tory Lanez, Cardi B and more. The biggest surprise of the night, though, was Drake announcing he’s working on the follow-up effort to his March-released playlist More Life.
“I’m about to go back to making this new album in Toronto, just for you,” he told the OVO Fest crowd. “I will see you next year! We’ll be bigger, we’ll be better. I go by the name of Drake, this is an OVO Sound ting for life!” Earlier in the night, The Weeknd hit the stage to perform “Crew Love” and “Starboy,” and Drake took the opportunity to tease that a possible OVOXO project may be in the works.
“I want you to understand what this is,” Drake said, pointing to his fellow Canadian. “I don’t want to do this to you on stage, but I feel like that OVOXO project has to happen at some point.”
