In case you missed it, Pusha T and Drake were embroiled in a feud over the weekend after Drizzy caught wind of a few lines Pusha directed towards him on the G.O.O.D Music label head’s new album Daytona. Drake retaliated with his own response track titled “Duppy Freestyle,” but he didn’t always have animosity towards the former Clipse rapper. In fact, Drizzy used to be a huge Clipse fan when he was younger and opened up about his love for the group on MTV’s When I Was 17 series.
Amid all the smoke from the recently reignited feud, MTV News writer Charles Holmes shared an old clip of Drake’s old When I Was 17 episode, in which Drake joyously spoke about the time he came across a Pusha T autographed microphone online and purchased it for $200.
“One day I was looking for autographed stuff from Clipse because I was like a really, really big Clipse fan,” he recalled. Drake added that he “used to pretend I was doing interviews on the red carpet and perform all the Clipse songs in my basement with the mic.” After performing with the mic several times, the alleged Pusha T autographed rubbed off but Drake admitted that “at the time, it meant the world to me.”
But just as times have changed, Drake feelings towards the rapper have switched up also, as he rapped in his Pusha diss track, “Must’ve had your ‘Infrared’ wrong, now your head in the beam/ Y’all are the spitting image of whatever jealousy breeds/ Don’t push me when I’m in album mode/ You not even top 5 as far as your label talent goes.”
