The shared segment is called “Stay Away From They” and focuses on “They.” The chapter elaborates on who “They” are and why it’s important to keep them out of your life. Written entirely in capital letters, here is the opening paragraph:
YOU HEAR ME SAYING “STAY AWAY FROM ‘THEY’” ALL THE TIME, BUT WHO ARE “THEY”? I’LL TELL YOU: “THEY” ARE THE ENEMY. “THEY” WANT TO KEEP THE KEYS HIDDEN AND BLOCK YOU FROM THE PATHWAY OF MORE SUCCESS, AND “THEY” WANT TO SEE YOU TO FAIL. I’VE SEEN “THEY” OUT THERE AND I’VE SEEN THEIR EVIL. IT MAKES “THEY” HAPPY WHEN YOU DON’T PROSPER AND “THEY” LAUGH AT YOUR PLANS TO MAKE YOURSELF BETTER AND GET AHEAD. THE PERSON WHO WANTS TO DISTRACT YOU FROM YOUR STUDIES OR YOUR CAREER WITH THEIR DRAMA? THAT’S A “THEY.” THAT’S A BIG “THEY.” BUT HERE’S A MAJOR KEY: AS LONG AS YOU STAY AWAY FROM “THEY,” YOU WILL PROSPER.
The Keys, of course, is all about Khaled’s major keys to success. Aside from staying away from “They,” other subjects will include “Don’t ever play yourself,” “Secure the bag,” “Respect the code,” “Glorify your success,” “Don’t deny the heat” and more. The book will also feature “mogul talk” from Jay Z, Rick Ross, Puff Daddy, L.A. Reid. Lyor Cohen, Arianna Huffington and others.
Khaled previously teased his self-help book in an interview with The New York Times Magazine earlier this year. “The keys can never run out. Sometimes when you get a key, it gets you another key, and gets you another key,” he said. “One of my major keys is actually the master keys: God. In my life, they’ve hid the keys from me, so I’ve overcome and weathered a lot of storms.”
The Keys will be released Nov. 22.
