DJ Durel has played an integral role in laying the foundation to the soundtrack behind the meteoric rise of the Migos. For his latest work, the Quality Control producer links up with the Atlanta trio for his first official single in the role of the artist. The sizzling “Hot Summer” arrives on Friday (July 27), ahead of the trio heading out on their now-delayed joint tour with Drake next month.
Quavo revealed that new music was on the way during his recent interview with Billboard. “We haven’t dropped that much new music but we’ve got feature shit everywhere. I think dropping a Migos record right before tour will give us something fresh and new to perform would be dope. It’s produced by DJ Durel and it’s crazy,” Huncho said.
Takeoff handles the tune’s second verse and closes out his cameo by paying homage to the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. “Move like the minister cause n—-s born to/ Gang with me, stuck like skin and tattoos (tattoos)/Choppa hit your stomach it’s bad like fast food/I thought the Clan told you that the cash rules (Wu-Tang),” he rhymes.
The Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour was originally slated to kick off Thursday (July 26) in Salt Lake City, Utah but was pushed back due to “production issues” and will now begin on Aug. 10 in Kansas City, Missouri.
