The hip-hop mogul made the announcement on Twitter Sunday (Nov. 4), writing, “She is without a doubt the right person for the job … It’s time to fight back!” She is running against Republican Brian Kemp in the midterm elections on Tuesday.
Diddy’s Tweet also included a short video of himself imploring Georgia citizens to elect Abrams, which would make her the first black female governor in U.S. history.
“This will make her the first black woman governor,” Diddy says in the clip. “And it’s not just because of that. It’s because she’s for the people, she’s behind the people — but right now she needs the people.”
Diddy isn’t the only rapper endorsing Abrams. Atlanta hip-hop artists like Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris and T.I. have also thrown their support behind the Democratic candidate, according to the Washington Post.
Attention Georgia!!! I’m officially endorsing @staceyabrams for Governor. She is without a doubt the right person for the job. But the only way this can happen is if you get out and vote. Let your voice be heard, don’t let anything stop you from voting!! IT’S TIME TO FIGHT BACK. pic.twitter.com/BkaHsEK1kd
