Danny Brown and Jonah Hill join forces for the Detroit rapper’s disturbingly trippy “Ain’t It Funny” video, which debuted via Periscope on Tuesday (March 28).
The visual for the song, which appeared on Brown’s 2016 effort Atrocity Exhibition, finds Brown starring as “Uncle Danny” in the style of an ’80s family sitcom that’s not so PG.
A life-size bottle of cough syrup and a pill tablet stab Brown, who struggles with his addiction (“I’m empty inside,” he says). Uncle Danny also appears in bed with both the mother (played by Growing Pains‘ Joanna Kerns) and the “sister” (actress Lauren Alice Avery), who at one point are a bloody mess. Esteemed writer and director Gus Van Sant also stars as “the dad.” As one viewer accurately described the clip, “It’s like an episode of Black Mirror.”

Hill — who has starred in The Wolf of Wall Street, 21 Jump Street and Superbad — boasts over 5 million Twitter followers and only nine tweets, but decided to dedicate two to this visual feat.
Beyond music videos, the Oscar-nominated actor will also be making his directorial cinema debut for the forthcoming film Mid ’90s.
