Dame Dash is looking to heal some fractured relationships in 2019, or maybe he just wants an invite to next year’s pre-Grammy Roc Nation brunch. Either way, Dame is looking to make amends with a few industry folks he has quite the history with. The hip-hop mogul posted a series of videos to Instagram Monday (Feb. 11) extending apologies to JAY-Z, Steve Stoute, Lyor Cohen, Jim Jones, and Roc-A-Fella’s Kareem “Biggs” Burke.
“I’m minding my business. I have no beef with anybody. I’m looking past it,” he says in the first video, titled “A Real Man Can Apologize.” Dame later references the recent interview he gave voicing his frustration with having to be silenced regarding R. Kelly‘s alleged sexual abuse of Aaliyah since he was working with Jay on an album. “So JAY-Z, if I’ve offended you, I apologize. Lyor Cohen, if I offended you, I apologize. Steve Stoute, if I offended you, I apologize. Just ’cause you don’t have the same morals and principles, it’s cool. I’m not angry no more. I did what I had to do. I was a little aggravated about Aaliyah, so y’all just caught the brunt end of it. It was therapy.”
Dash also admits he even gave Jim Jones a call; the two had been feuding since the Dipset rapper referred to Dame as a “culture vulture” in 2014. “I called Jim Jones today like I miss him. I don’t know if y’all know, but I miss him. As a brother, I love his family. I want him to be happy. And Jay, you know, the friendship we had was cool, man. I just miss it. But whatever he doing, he doing. But I’m cool with it, bro,” he explains.
The 47-year-old once again brings up how the death of his ex-girlfriend Aaliyah shook up his psyche. “I’m sorry man, I wasn’t myself for a second. Aaliyah had me fucked up. And Biggs, I’m sorry bro if I offended you,” Dame says. “Whatever you doing, I’m with it. I love you, man. I know y’all mad at me, but whatever, I’m sorry. I can admit it. When I make some money, I’ll send you something because you my brother. I love your family.”
