Almost a year after their split, Ciara and Future are back in the headlines. Conveniently speaking to the media just in advance of his new album Dirty Sprite 2, the rapper opened up about some of the reasons for their split, and confronted allegations that he is a “deadbeat dad.”

“I take care of all my kids to the fullest,” he said during an interview with HuffPost Live. “I take care of my kids’ moms. ” When host Marc Lamont Hill asked if any of his children’s mothers would say differently (he has four biological children with four different women), Future replied emphatically, “Nope.”

Ciara, who presumably heard about the interview because of Future’s commentary about their sex life, had a different take on the situation. In some very pointed subtweets, the singer called Future “dishonest” (a good play on the title of his 2014 album) and emphasized that “one’s main focus should be on being a good parent” — their son, Future Zahir Wilburn, just turned 1.
