Chuck D, frontman for iconic hip-hop group Public Enemy, wrote an essay for The Daily Beast today (Oct. 19) titled, straight to the point, “Why Donald Trump Is a White Supremacist.”
The piece opens with Chuck D claiming that “Trump is a bloated mess — and a weapon of mass distraction.” The rapper then goes on to reference his new track “Hail to the Chief” (released in September by Prophets of Rage — a rap-rock supergroup including members of Public Enemy, Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave), which focuses on Vice President Mike Pence’s time as the Indiana governor.
Chuck D refers to the current administration as “sinister.” He notes that President Donald Trump never condemned the white supremacists who, in August, marched in Charlottesville.
“He’s a 70-year-old white alpha male who looks down on other peoples, and bullies others to get what he wants,” he writes. “If that’s not supremacy, then what the fuck is? He’s the epitome of a white supremacist. He’s not about sharing the world; he’s about taking. He has no concern for the future of the world because he’s selfish, and is only going to be around for 10, 15 more years.”
The rapper begs those reading to “rail against these regimes now,” for the sake the world which “your children are going to inherit.” To read the full piece, click here.
