Chicago hip-hop fans will unfortunately have to miss 107.5’s WGCI Take Over Jam on Thursday night (March 29) after police shut down the event due to “security reasons.’
“We have been advised by Chicago law enforcement to cancel tonight’s #TakeOverJam due to specific safety and security concerns for the surrounding area,” read the statement on WGCI’s Twitter account Thursday afternoon. “As a result, we regret that the event has been canceled. Ticket refund info can be found here.”
WGCI’s Take Over Jam originally billed acts such as Blac Youngsta, Rich the Kid, YFN Lucci, Kash Doll, Valee and more to perform at the Chicago Theatre on Thursday night at 8 p.m. The Chicago Theatre issued a statement on their website as well in regards to the cancelation of the event.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to your continued patronage of The Chicago Theatre,” says the statement. Billboard reached out to Chicago Police for comment.
