Charlie Wilson isn’t stopping anytime soon. If anything, the legendary singer/songwriter is hustling harder.
On the heels of his guest feature on Kanye West’s “Bound 2,” which he discusses with us, Wilson is prepping a new album heavy with uptempos.
“I’m waiting to go back into the studio to come up with really, really great uptempo records that I’ve been wanting to do since the Gap Band days,” he tells Billboard’s The Juice.
Uncle Charlie also says that he’s been working with long time collaborators Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake and Stevie Wonder. Wiz Khalifa recently came up to Wilson during the 2014 GRAMMYs to ask for “a hook.”
Don’t be surprised if you hear Wilson on Kanye’s upcoming album—when he laid down his vocals for “Bound 2,” they also recorded other songs. “We cut a lot of records. ‘Bound 2’ is the one he kept. That’s the one that stuck out,” he said, before sharing that he once teased ‘Ye for calling himself “Yeezus.”
