In a video for his New Pioneers Billboard cover story, Chance the Rapper headed to Reckless Records in Chicago’s Wicker Park to buy a bunch of records spanning every genre to pass out to fans for free — “’cause why not?”
The rapper — whose music is streaming-only, leaving Chance to earn money from tours, merchandise, meet-and-greets and other deals — gave out albums from artists like FKA Twigs, John Legend, Ariana Grande and Lenny Kravitz.
While passing out the free music, one fan of the artist complimented him for his latest project, Coloring Book, to which Chance responded, “Oh, thank you. Well, I got all my inspiration from this guy right here; his name is John Legend. Classic album, Get Lifted.”
