CeeLo Green will meet music producer D. Smith to speak his support for transgender people on the next episode of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.
Smith, a transgender woman who won a Grammy for writing on Lil Wayne’s 2008 album, Tha Carter III, is a new cast member on Love & Hip Hop. Singer Betty Idol arranged the meeting so that the two could share music ideas and possibly work together. Watch below.
D. Smith is a dynamic individual and artist whose list of credits speaks volumes,” CeeLo told Billboard in a statement. “My intention is to make music and possibly make history as well. For me, it’s about talent being translated and truth being transparent.”
Smith says meeting with CeeLo “has opened another dimension in my universe.” She continues, “As a trans woman, I look beyond being merely tolerated. I want to be a part of this world, too. Thanks, CeeLo, for seeing my light and not my gender.”
The episode will air on Monday, July 4, on VH1.
