In light of their 20th anniversary, Cash Money Records releases their new Cash Money app.
Exclusively available at the app store today, the Cash Money app will enable users to recreate iconic album covers with their own personal photos, have access to a free introductory “Sticker Pack” of 20 add-ons, and browse through the “Tattoo Pack,” which will feature legendary tattoos of Birdman and Lil Wayne. In addition, the app will stream over 15 classic videos with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage with commentary from artists, filmmakers, and talent.
“We’re always excited for the next innovation in the music industry,” says Cash Money Records co-founder, Ronald “Slim” Williams in a press release. “The app engages fans on the modern playing field, while celebrating our history. It’s the perfect balance. I can remember selling our first releases out of my car, and I can’t wait to see how the album artwork comes to life in the digital space! It’s the beginning of yet another era for Cash Money.”
Republic Records vp of digital, Aaron Bogucki adds: “We were sitting in the Cash Money Vault as a team, and we began looking at all of these amazing album covers. We wanted to embrace that influential aesthetic within an app. That’s what sparked the idea. Now, fans can place themselves in this artwork for the first time. It’s an exciting avenue to organically promote the 20^th anniversary of such a powerhouse label and its influence.”
In an interview with Billboard last month, co-founder and co-CEO of Cash Money Records, Birdman, spoke confidently in his label’s ability to flourish, even after spending 20 years in the rap game. “Still putting up the most numbers, just steady peaking,” said Birdman when asked where does he see Cash Money in five years. “Continuously growing, breaking new acts, being ahead of the game. Ain’t nothing going to change, it’s only going to get better.”
The Cash Money app will be available in all digital platforms on Sept. 1.
