After Selena Gomez hinted that she might retire from music after one more album, Cardi B jumped to her defense and begged her not to, even offering to help launch one more epic era. Gomez, 28, made the statement on the cover of the April issue of Vogue, saying, “It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough.”
While she feels like there are enough people who do enjoy her music, Gomez added, “For that I’m so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”
Well, Cardi did not like the sound of that at all and she sounded off in a pair of early morning tweets on Thursday (March 11). “I don’t think Selena should retire .She makes good music & her fans love her,” wrote Cardi. “I think she needs one more Era. A edgy one that no one ever seen her as .I would love to give her some ideas.”
That wasn’t all, either. Cardi said she really likes Gomez and she defends her because she is, “such a sweetheart in person. Us celebs get picked apart all the time but she is just to sweet to go thru that,” she added. “If she wants to leave ,leave cause you want too not cause of these f–kers.”
Gomez is currently filming her Hulu series Only Murders in the Building with Steve Martin and Martin Short and has been tapped for the In the Shadow of the Mountain biopic about Peruvian mountaineer and social entrepreneur Silvia Vásquez-Lavado.
And while a fourth album could be her “last try” before musical retirement, in the meantime Selenators can sate their appetite with her seven-song Spanish-language EP Revelación, which drops on Friday (March 12). The project includes previously released singles “Baila Conmigo” with Puerto Rican rapper/singer Rauw Alejandro and “De Una Vez,” as well as “Buscando Amor,” “Vicio” and “Adios.” Gomez also collaborated with DJ Snake on “Selfish Love” and Puerto Rican rapper/singer Myke Towers on “Dámelo To.”
